We wanted to bring an article providing some guidelines to Photographers on how to produce a Good Photograph. This question is always a tricky one since there is no boundaries or constraints defining how our human brain works in order to judge a picture.
It becomes even more complicated when we need to think it from the creator’s perspective, wondering what it takes to make a good piece of art. In this article as always, we have tried to break down the formula of producing a good picture into three categories.
#1 Show The Unseen
Let us assume two different scenarios.
- You take your camera out and search for something to shoot.
- You see something and then take your camera to shoot
This almost defines the bottom line for a good picture. I can assure you option 2 produces great pictures than the former. There is a sense of surprise and various factors paving for making it a good picture. You were surprised by it since you haven’t experienced anything like this before. When you practice to surprise yourself then it becomes a routine a common thing for your pictures to surprise others.
Never settle down with mediocre works. Straight away destroy them. They don’t surprise anyone not even you. Forget the camera, drench in the beautiful things which lay open beneath the broad sky. Search for the beauty forget the camera, when you question yourself there are only a very few elements which would ask the photographers attention, look for them and show the world. Not to forget surprise them.
#2 Be Unique
Considering you have learnt the art of surprising. It wants you to walk down the road of surprise forever. After a while when you turn back searching for some companion or competition, you realize you are all alone there. This is the best part since you are the right companion and toughest competitor for you.
It should be hard to convince you, don’t stick to you an easy formula, the easier they become more the chances for you to fall into a group. When you fall into a group you are no longer alone. You don’t think freely you look for inspiration you don’t inspire. Develop some aspect of Photography which you are at a pro level, be it be lighting, composing or processing. Show the world the skills you have acquired. Make them Inspired.
#3 Be Creative
Since you know how to surprise others you are unique and you stay ahead of the pack. Then there is special word called Creativity, it is always easy to speak about it rather than being creative itself. Creativity is a constant process, its spontaneous just like a moment of laughter or a blink of eye. The easiest way of being creative is never think of being one. Let us forget its existence and just be pure and try to surprise yourself with every form of act or an art publish. Slowly but definitely you can hear people utter this word creative.
Creativity is the bottom line for all art, the mere existence of anything here. For few mastering it is a spiritual phenomenon for others it comes naturally. Everybody has one just we need to realize this word and utilize it to the extreme to become a good Photographer or any kind of artist.
#4 Learning The Art Of Publishing
This header itself can make a huge article, but to briefly describe it, being a good photographer you should know your standards and keeping a constant mark on the consistency would drastically improve your quality of pictures. Never worry about the numbers, one best photograph in a month is better than 10 mediocre images. So stay calm and analyze the photograph before publishing. Be open for criticism but stay confident when you think a photograph makes sense by your standards do not listen to others. After all the good photograph should convince you the photographer first.
