French artist Aude Bourgine creates captivating embroidered coral sculptures. Aude named this series as “Lungs of the Ocean”. This series started in 2014, the long-term project Lungs of the oceans brings together several dozen corals assembled by Aude Bourgine from textile and recycled materials.
These sculptures are the result of meticulous work, close to goldsmithing, and represent the great diversity of these animals, each work finding its title in the Latin name of the species represented. The artist protects these endangered specimens under glass globes, frozen in time, like species preserved in museums or cabinets of curiosities, they are precious witnesses to the vulnerability of our nature, our ecosystems. in danger.
