Here are the winners and highly commended photographs from WildArt POTY BACKYARD Competition 2021.
BACKYARD is the 8th of the ten WildArt categories and accepted entries during August; it is the concept of the category judge and wildlife photographer Rebecca Nason from the United Kingdom. Rebecca is a birder and wildlife photographer who now lives on the Shetland Isles where she runs Shetland Seabird Tours with her partner.
BACKYARD sought to celebrate the reconnection with the wildlife on our own doorsteps following the Covid-enforced lockdowns we have experienced over the last 18 months.
As with the previous competition categories, it didn’t disappoint, and we were treated to some amazing photography. Congratulations go to Jan Piecha from Germany who receives the Gold Award for BACKYARD with his beautifully artistic image of Balkan Anemones entitles ‘Purple’. Jan joins the other category winners in the grand final, from which the WildArt Photographer of the Year will be chosen and awarded the title and the £3,000 top prize. Previous category winners have come from Hungary, Poland, The United States of America, The United Kingdom, Israel, and Austria underlining the competitions international reach and appeal.
