Extremely talented and passionate Nature & Wildlife photographer Khurram Khan speaks on his photography journey in this interview. Khurram is 39 years old, A physician by trade and a photographer by heart with a passion for nature and conservation. Few words about you and Photography?
I am 39 years old, A physician by trade and a photographer by heart with a passion for nature and conservation. Photography allows to tell a story going back and forward from the point you clicked the shutter and freeze a moment in time, which in my opinion is sometimes more powerful than videos.
How did you choose Nature Photography?
I was always fascinated with nature and wild life. Photography was some thing that I always wanted and picked it up as a habit in my 20s and eventually the two merged and here I am.
According to Khurram, what are some basic attributes a Nature Photographer should have?
Depends what kind of images you want to create and what kind of message you want to send to your audience. But a knowledge of your subject, what image you have in mind and patience are all important.
What are your homework before you go out to shoot these wonderful creatures?
Gear check, what kind of images I want, where I can find them and what to expect realistically.
How important is Patience in this wonderful genre of Photography?
Patience is a huge virtue, there are times when you are out there in the cold wet weather when you can be with your family warm in your house and still get zero shots. But patience is important as your luck may change the very next moment.
According to Khurram, what is a fantastic picture?
I like to depict animals in there environment, lately fine art photography is really catching my eye.
Your favorite location?
Most definitely that would be Africa till now, more specifically the Serengeti.
Your Inspiration and driving force behind your success?
Being able to produce images that captures animal and it showcases there beauty to other people in all walks of life so we can help protect the species that are dying out.
What camera do you use the majority of the time?
Nikon D5
Any favorite photography books?
The wildlife photographer of the year series.
