Capturing shadow is a popular aesthetic in street photography, especially during morning and afternoon hours. The lower the sun, the longer the shadows will be, making it easier to play with them in a frame. From small details to dramatic effects, there is a variety of ways shadow can be captured and included in a photo.
As a street photographer, I always look for light and the shadows created by the light, especially during morning hours, because that is when most of the magic happens. My photo series “In Search of Light” is a narration of my constant endeavor of searching light.

Sankar Sengupta is a self-taught Kolkata-based independent photographer with a strong sense of light and color. His main interests are street photography, travel, and portraits. Being an IT Consultant by profession, he is a weekend photographer, which gives him the required oxygen for another hectic week.
