River Ganga flows through West Bengal. And the city life of Southern West Bengal has been emerged by both sides of river Ganges. As both sides of the river emerged equally, people have to cross the river from one part to the other and vice versa throughout the day. In many areas bridges have been constructed to maintain the connectivity between both sides. But, there are many areas where there are no bridges available to cross the river.
To overcome that situation people use wooden boats operated by motors to cross the river. In many areas, there is jetty where people used to gather and to board the boat and cross the river. Jetty is made of iron and it helps people to gather up and board the boat. Jetty is easier for the people who wants to board a boat. But in many areas, there are no jetty where people can gather to board the boat.
The people of those areas need to cross the river from one side to the other and vice-versa without jetty. People have to go through the water of river Ganga and have to board the boat to cross the. I have documented how people have to cross the river from one part to the other part. People have to struggle daily to board the boat and cross the river. During low tide, it is very much challenging for people to board the boat because the boat cannot reach to the river bank. People have to walk through the river bank and board the boat. It’s a daily phenomenon for the people who needs to go from one part of the river to the other part and vice-versa.
