I am Jai Thakur, born and brought up in a small cantonment of Darjeeling district I am now based in Delhi. Currently, I am a Business Research Analyst by profession and a self-taught photographer. I started photography out of my passion for traveling and storytelling. During my shooting days as a junior artist in a Bollywood film, I realized that it’s all together with a different experience of seeing things from behind the camera. So, after coming back to Delhi the first thing I did was to attend photography workshops. Post this, I started traveling and practicing on my own and within a few years, my work started getting recognized at various national and international platforms. That gave me a real boost to carry further this passion.
So far I have covered more than 40 places in India and Nepal. Majority of my work is in travel and documentary genre. I am honoured being a recipient of prestigiousSahapedia Frames Grant and also, won awards at the repute of Paris Photo Prize (PX3), International Photography Awards (IPA), Monochrome International Photography Awards, Moscow International Foto Awards (MIFA),Tokyo International Foto Awards (TIFA), Sahitya Kala Parishad and Jeevika: 10th Asian Livelihood Documentary Film Awards. My work has been published in various media platforms be it print or online like National Geographic Your Shot, 121clicks, Photographer’s Forum Magazine, Dodho Magazine, CityAir News, Indian Education Diary, etc. Also, because of my work on river Yamuna, I have been a part of MX Player Web-series “Express Yourself” on River Conservation and recently, appointed as a Brand Ambassador of Tripoto Pvt. Ltd.
