In her words about the secret to capture an amazing portrait “I think the first secret is the light. Mostly I photograph in the golden hour where the light is very soft. When I photograph a model the preparation is very important. I exchange a lot with the model in advance and together we choose the style for the clothes, hair, and makeup. Then I tell what I expect from her. Which story and which feelings I wish. Photoshooting is very funny with me and the atmosphere is always relaxed.”

Few words about yourself?
Hey, my Name is Agnieszka Rygula but you can call me Agi :) and I was born in Poland. Currently, I am living in Germany with my family. I am a Mother of two kids. My daughter is 7 years old and my son is 3 years old now. I have an education as a Nurse. People say I am a happy and open person and I love to laugh.
What are your childhood memories towards the arts?
I remember as I was a little kid I loved beautiful pictures in my storybooks.
When I saw a nice oil landscape picture I could watch it for hours. I love pictures that stimulate my imagination. Pictures what telling a story. Till today, I am very fascinated by photos that look like a painting.
What first drew you to photography and how did you discover it?
When I was 13 years young girl when the Analog Camera of my Parents did not work properly and they bought a new one. I was so happy became the old defect Camera :) But it wasn’t defected. I photographed me, my friends and family. I didn’t care how I photographed but I remember that half of my pocket money for the development went on it.
My real photography journey was in the summer of 2016 at the first birthday of my second child. It was like a click moment. Those days I stand home by my kids I thought often what I really want to do. To work as a Nurse is fine but that was always not my passion. I realized that everything I always loved to do was always by my side. I`ve never gone out without my Camera. So I wanted to know and understand everything and I began to learn very hard at nights where my Kids slept. Some people are surprised at how fast I have developed in this short time. After a short time, I got inquiries for photo shootings so I was able to afford my first professional equipment.
How would you describe your Style of Photography?
My style is Fine Art Photography because I always edit my photos like the painting look who makes the picture sometimes magical. I handle everything so easy like possible during a photoshoot but during an edit is everything possible.
Your photos of kids are very inspiring and the lighting & color tones are not top notch. Few words about your processing style?
The first Steps I began with Lightroom and I will look for good composition and light. Which emotions and where I see a good story in one picture. Sometimes I will also put 2 pictures together. A few little steps I edit in LR then I go to Photoshop where i colored the picture, give more contrast, light beams and sharpen at the End.

Which photographers have inspired you?
Mostly Iwona Podlasinska and Elena Shumilova. Elena’s photos are wonderful and I love her storytelling. Like a Movie scene. Iwona Style is so dreamy and touches my heart every time. She is the master of light for me. I met Iwona last year in October where I organized her Workshop with the Steamtrain. One of the fantastic days of my life. This year we are doing again in December and I´m very happy to have Iwona by my side. She is a wonderful person and teacher for me.
What camera and lenses do you use the majority of the time?
- I use Canon 5d mark iii
- For Outdoor Sigma Art 135mm 1.8
- For Indoor Sigma Art 50mm 1.4
- My next Lens will be a Sigma 85mm 1.4
Any favorite photography books?
Hmmmmmm….I love reading books and some few books I read about photography but I didn`t remember and the mostly I watch Youtube videos. There I can search exactly what I need. At the beginning Phlearn and K1Production also a great Help.
What is the best compliment you received so far?
Usually, when i show the final photos to my clients, they cry with happiness. That’s the moment I`m very thankful. Another one is when I get Email from people around the world who writes me they loved my photos and wished to be one day a good photographer like me. That’s so incredible for me. Never thought someone could say this someday to me. Only 2 Years before I looked of others photos and was thinking the same :). This is a kind moment where I realized what happened only in this 2 years in my photographic journey.
Apart from photography, tell me about your hobbies and interests?
My garden is my hobby. It teaches me to be patient. We grow our own fruits, herbs, and vegetables as well as possible. I am interested in natural medicine and I eat Vegan for 6 Years. This became a hobby in my Kitchen too. To be kind to me and for the World it is very important. I love animals and mother earth. That’s why I always love to photograph outdoor. Nature is awesome and Humans should be more careful with her.

I`m very lucky and thankful for this Interview. I would like to end the Interview with an old quote “If you can Dream it, you can Do it” from Walt Disney. I think that everything is possible when you have courage and patience. In the last two years, I learned so so much about photography and I worked hard on it to be better and better. Sometimes it helps to sit back and look at your own growth instead of comparing yourself with others. Capture as much you can and have always fun with it :)
