The Buryats, an ethnic branch of the Mongolian people, reside primarily in border regions between Mongolia and Siberia, especially in and around the town of Ulan-Ude. Fluent in Russian but culturally distinct, the Buryats are recognizable by their fair skin, strong builds, and deep-rooted customs that stem from their nomadic heritage and shamanistic beliefs. Their worldview centers on natural theology, with heaven and earth regarded as sacred parental forces.
