The 11th Annual Fine Art Photography Awards celebrated the finest in visual storytelling, and the Portrait category in the Amateur division offered a stunning array of talent and vision. Among hundreds of submissions, 22 brilliant winning portraits stood out for their artistry, emotional depth, and originality.
These award-winning portraits range from elegant black-and-white studies to vivid color compositions that reveal the soul behind each subject. The photographers skillfully explored themes of identity, memory, and human connection, often blurring the lines between reality and imagination. Each image invites the viewer to pause, reflect, and feel.

Black-and-white portraits dominated the top entries, using light and contrast to powerful effect. A striking example is a moody portrait of an elderly man with weathered features, his gaze filled with untold stories. In contrast, the color portraits dazzled with bold tones and symbolic elements—such as a surreal image of a woman shrouded in red silk, symbolizing both strength and vulnerability.
The fine art approach was evident in the conceptual depth of many photos, where careful styling, composition, and symbolism transformed ordinary moments into poetic visual narratives. The use of minimalism, texture, and imaginative staging made these portraits more than just likenesses—they became emotional landscapes.
These 22 brilliant portraits from the 2025 Fine Art Photography Awards showcase the evolving voice of contemporary portraiture. They remind us that photography, even in its amateur form, has the power to reveal the profound beauty and complexity of the human spirit.
