#2. Silver: "Emperor’s rule" by Wayne Sorensen

#3. Silver: "Warrior" by Hugo Hebbe

Wildlife Winners from the 1839 Photographer of the Year Awards

"4:30 AM on French Guiana’s beaches, I met a massive leatherback turtle, the largest sea turtle on Earth, struggling to lay eggs. For hours, I watched her 700 kg body crawl laboriously on the sand. I saw her pain and joy as she returned to the sea. At sunrise, I used my drone to capture her freedom."

#4. Bronze: "Against a Quiet Current" by Michael Mihaljevich

Wildlife Winners from the 1839 Photographer of the Year Awards

"An elk and her yearlings ford a rocky mountain river as the morning fog burns off. The current was so placid, it neither impeded their crossing nor concealed the sloshing of their steady march to the far bank."

#5. Bronze: "Ghost Cat at Midnight" by Ryan Pennesi

Wildlife Winners from the 1839 Photographer of the Year Awards

"The Ghost Cat; Canada Lynx. Taken with strategically placed camera trap in Northern Minnesota. This spot is a natural scent-marking station for wild cats. With the external flash I was attempting to mimic the light of a full moon through the trees. No bait or lures used."

#6. People’s Vote Award: "Nature’s Watchful Eye" by Karen Horner

Wildlife Winners from the 1839 Photographer of the Year Awards

"Capturing the intense gaze of a creature in the wild, Nature’s Watchful Eye reflects the presence of God in all His creation. This image serves as a reminder that, just as nature remains ever-vigilant, so too does God watch over us with unwavering care, guiding and protecting us in every moment."
