Michal Orlinski is from Warsaw, in this fine interview with 121clicks.com, Michal shares some wonderful thoughts on being a street photographer, what happens when he steps on the streets as a photographer, how to be a clear head and tells us a tip or two on being a good photographer.

Could you please introduce yourself?
Michał Orliński- lives in Warsaw. He interested in photography for long time but deals with it since 2014′. Trying to show his own vision of the present world. He shows daily moments, fleeting moments, places, we passed every day. Recently, he is a member of streets photographers collective “Flanersi” and photographer in FORUM – Polish Photography Agency.
What makes Street photography so fascinating for you?
Street photography include unique moments. Each day shows something new, different. That’s why I’ve choosen it. This kind of photography contains the most fascinating experiences.
How did you train yourself to observe such beauty in the daily mundane stuff?
I watch a lot of other photographers’ works, but first of all I go out on the street and take pictures. This allows us to sharpen our senses. Feel the street, deal with it and spend a few hours wandering, of course. 🙂
How important is composition in your style of photography?
Composition in photography is very important. It builds the picture, is attracted to an eyes. Being on the street, before I press the shutter button, I’m trying to build a vision in my head. Often the fleeting moments does not allow for this. The more photos you take, creating an image is easier and faster.
Your gear?
For sure, in photography more important is photograph’ vision, than the equipment. It’s only helpful tool. Currently I’m using Canon 5d Mark III and lens of the camera 35 mm 1.4L. Previously I used the Fuji X-E1 with a kit lens.
What according to Michal, makes a good photograph?
Good photography attracts attention. It stops us for a long while. Tells story and is history. Tries to collapse deeply into our memory and stays there for a very long time.
How do you avoid shooting cliche Street photographs?
I never thought that I can take the same picture I saw and I liked. Before going to the street you have to have a “clean head”, focus on what’s going on and just take pictures 🙂

Martin Parr, Henri Cartier -Bresson, Elliot Erwitt, Robert Capa, Robert Frank, Chris Niedenthal, Josef Koudelka, Bruce Gilden, Eve Arnolds, Bruce Davidson, Erich Hartmann, Peter Marlow and many different personality.
Would you mind sharing us your future goals and ambition?
At the end of October you can find a book containing my photos as well as the group exhibitions “URBAN & HUMAN EMPATHY” at the Fotofestival in Trieste. I will certainly make as many good pictures as possible so I encourage you to follow my Flickr 🙂 Time will tell what happen next. I hope the only positive things.
Any final thoughts for our readers?
Don’t give up. Take as many photo as possible, because only then you will be better. Visit the exhibitions, develop your mind. Watch the work of the best photographers, not just the street ones. You need to know which photo is good. Don’t split up with your camera. You never know when it’s time to take a great photo. Don’t try to copy other artists, find your own way, your style. And once again take as many pictures as possible 🙂
