This series, created by the artist Nayan Shrimali, focuses on the natural genetic mutations Albinism and Melanism. This body of work depicts the grace of birds and other wild beings with this unusual genetic trait.
Each piece starts with a sketch, and then the species’ fur/feathers are cut from paper in multiple layers with a precision knife. Following that, each layer is colored with watercolors in the exact shade of the species. Finally, all of the layers are assembled by hand to form a 2.5-dimensional paper sculpture.
