My name is Aftab Uzzaman.
I am originally from Bangladesh, currently living in New Zealand.
I am a doctor by profession, not a photographer.
I fell in love with photographs when I was a little kid. It was the magic of capturing a moment that overwhelmed me. Can we relive the past vividly? It was magical.
I never thought I would take up photography seriously. I wanted to be a poet or a painter or a novelist. I wanted to understand life with its beauty and mystery and express my own feelings about these. Five or six years ago, I realized that I could do this better with photography than any other medium.
To me, finding a deeper and personal meaning in a photograph or a scene is more important than its technical aspects. I want to call it expressive photography. After all, almost anybody can shoot an awesome landscape or a cool macro. There is nothing unique or personal about it. I want to interpret the deeper meaning of that lone tree or that butterfly. I want to convey an emotion or a feeling that is my own. I want to convey life the way I understand and interpret it.
I am a composition freak, because I believe that a good and simple distraction free composition conveys a theme much better than a clumsy one.
I do almost all kinds of photographs except artificially lit ones.
I prefer natural light.
All my good and bad photographs are on flickr. They are free to download and use.
Thanks for reading about me.
