My name is Max Sturgeon and I’m an American photographer and filmmaker. I currently live between Austin, TX and Warsaw, Poland but spend most of my time on the road traveling. As a profession I work as an Assistant Director on film and television shows in the US. This job enables me to spend about half the year traveling and shooting when I am not working.
I’ve always been obsessed with traveling and taking photos but it wasn’t until about 3 years ago when I started doing workshops with other photographers such as Maciej Dakowicz or Vineet Vohra that I truly started taking it seriously. Since then I’ve become obsessed with shooting and trying new techniques. Recently I’ve been experimenting with flash photography, shooting analog/film, and working more on projects as opposed to single images. My two biggest long term projects are centered around the Bay of Bengal and the Black Sea.
