The first few days after I was tested Covid Positive was a journey through different thoughts and stress. Anxiety about the disease and its symptoms, the difficulty of being isolated, fear of something going to happen shook me. Life suddenly shrunk from the vast world I had until then, to a very small room, that too in a single day, was a big challenge.
I was isolated in a house next to my village. The room had no windows. The loving house owner served me food at the right time but I wasn’t comfortable there. After three days, I was advised to move to the Covid Care center at KINFRA, Palakkad (Kerala).
It was really a big relief. Open windows, sky, wings of the windmill seen through the windows, fresh light, fresh air, a lot of people like me to look at, to laugh at evoked feeling that “you are not alone”. The white colour of the PPE Kit of health workers even from the faraway distance was soothing. They served us food, medicine, and positive thoughts. I will never forget them in my life. Salute to all the real Life Heroes.
As a photographer, I was looking for myself in each and every frame I had taken. It has always been a medium to express my emotions and feelings. In an attempt to recapture my mind that would have been lost in the Quarantine days, I started taking the pictures.
I saw millions of frames around me. Tensions in the faces of the newcomers, relief in the faces of those who had completed 10 days, the happiness of those who tested negative, hard work of health workers, video calls from everyone`s relatives, waving hands of people who came to see their loved ones, and what not?
These are some of the photographs taken from the Covid care center where I was admitted. Try “NOT TO BE POSITIVE”. And, never miss an opportunity to hold on to the hands of your loved ones.
