Erika Zolli is an Italian fine-art photographer, attracted to the potential of photography to lead the observer into a world of surreal poetry. In her photos, new worlds and new realities are created, in order to show and explore the invisible dreamlike dimension that lies in the human mind. Her work is a combination of surrealism and lightness: the subjects directly interacts with the surroundings, creating an extrasensory and magical sensation. Her photography is nurtured by accurate post-production and high-precision techniques.
In her last series “Me at my Best”, the photographer plays with herself creating a series of surreal and dreamlike self-portraits. Delicate images with pastel colors show the subject a new visual code, outside of every aesthetic concern, where the laws of logic are stopped for daring space a what’s illogical and impossible. The Observer will be found in front of a flower metamorphoses, warm baths in teacups, sublimation of the body and mimicry with the surroundings. In these images the rationality retracts itself, the logic turns in on itself and the mind becomes blurred. Dissociative combinations, absurd compositions, situations in the balance between the dream and the wildest imagination, all in clear and immediate receptivity of visible thought that the Photography moves in the picture.
