Walk through the streets of Trindade, Brazil, and you’ll stumble into something straight-up magical. Walls don’t just talk here—they breathe. Thanks to street artist Fábio Gomes, trees spill over concrete, becoming lush, living hair for his hyper-realistic portraits. It’s street art with a pulse.
Fábio’s murals hit different because they blur the line between paint and planet. His faces—often powerful Black women rendered with softness, pride, and quiet strength—aren’t just painted near nature. They’re completed by it. Leaves, branches, and flowers become crowns, afros, and flowing curls, changing with the seasons like living sculptures.
What makes it even wilder? Fábio didn’t come up through art school hype. He honed his eye working construction. Measuring walls, reading space, understanding structure—that’s where his laser-sharp sense of proportion was born. As he puts it, being a construction worker taught him how to get everything to line up just right, allowing his murals to sync perfectly with their surroundings.
Fábio is also deeply intentional about representation. “Although I don’t consider myself a Black activist,” he says, “I always wanted to portray Black women with their natural beauty in a majestic way.” And that intention shows. Every mural feels like a quiet monument—proud, gentle, and unmissable.
Being a street artist in Brazil isn’t easy. Materials are expensive. Support is rare. But Fábio keeps going, confident his work will connect worldwide. Judging by how often these murals stop people in their tracks? He’s not wrong.
