All night long, the wind and snow clashed against the walls of the vertical fortresses that surround us. At dawn, carrying only our photo gear, we leave the bivouac and the reassuring cocoon of the forests to reach the ledges that lead under the cliffs, still veiled in the clouds. When the sun finally rises, the mist breaks for a moment.

The immensity of the walls then appears to us, overwhelming, as more than a kilometer of sheer drop stretches out from the forests, disappearing into the clouds. In an icy atmosphere, we stare in awe at the gigantism that surrounds us, observing the slow emergence of the peaks over successive waves of snowy fog. A silent moment, suspended on the threshold of winter.
