Adrian Murray – A Loving Father Takes Amazing Portraits Of His Two Kids
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Adrian Murray is a studying Dentistry but surely has great passion towards photography. In this brief interview with us, Adrian recalls certain wonderful moments with his kids and shares some amazing photographs with us. Having been inspired from Elena Shumilova, Adrian created his unique style of photographing his kids on the backdrop of countryside, at play and has captured some timeless moments on the act.

The moment of joy, his fatherly love and an undying passion for good photography is very evident in these photographs. What I like more is the beautiful backdrops with sensational smile of his two kids. Take a look for yourself and its really hard to resist falling in love with them.

Hi Adrian, can you please introduce yourself?

I’m a husband, a father of two, and a second year student at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry. I’ve always had a camera in hand, but up until last year I limited myself to point-and-click shots.

What fascinates you to capture these precious portraits of your children?

Like any parent, I’m driven to record my childrens’ childhood. Sometimes with my phone, sometimes with a full frame camera.

One memorable moment with your son?

I think our visit back to where I grew up is my favorite times with him. He was able to explore and play with some more unique animals like deer and sheep. Him being able to feed a deer was fantastic. He interacted with them so naturally that he seemed right at home.

Your Inspiration?

The reason I started to shoot with a purpose was because last winter I stumbled upon Elena Shumilova‘s work. I loved how she captured her children. That’s when I decided to put actual effort into photography. I picked up a new lens and started to experiment. These days I am inspired simply by the idea of childhood. I want to portray the innocence and wonder of childhood in every shot I take.

What camera and lenses do you use?

I am currently a canon guy. I have a 6D and a 7D. The lenses I have are the 17-40mm f/4L, the 40mm f/2.8 pancake lens, the 50mm f/1.2L, and the 135mm f/2L. My favorite combo is the 6D with the 135mm. It really is a magical match.

Apart from photography, what are your hobbies?

Between raising two boys who are both in diapers, taking between 28-32 credit hours per semester as a dental student, and photography, I hardly have time for any more hobbies. I’m excited for the day I graduate and will be able to get back into biking, hiking, and traveling. Until then, my face is either behind a book or behind a lens.

Any final thoughts for our readers?

Keep shooting!
