I am Shams, an aircraft engineer by profession and a passionate self-taught photographer focusing on people and the street. I was born in Narsingdi, a small town in Bangladesh but currently living in Dhaka. I became interested in photography back in 2013 when I was a student at university.
When I first saw the amazing light and shadow of streets by Fan Ho, decisive moments of Henry Cartier Bresson, stunning compositions of Joseph Koudelka and appealing moments of Alex Webb, I became spellbound and immediately fell in love with street photography. Since then I started exploring my surroundings with different perspective through the lens. My photos have been exhibited in National Art Gallery, Drik Gallery, Dhaka Art Center and some other places in Bangladesh.
When it comes to gear, honestly I was never plunged into the gears too much. I love to carry simple gear with me which gives me comfort as well as helps me getting closer to the subject easily.
