The Wellcome Photography Prize 2025 showcases a stunning collection of 25 powerful images that challenge our perceptions of health, science, and human experience. This year’s competition attracted a diverse range of participants—professional and amateur photographers, scientists, clinicians, and researchers—from across the globe. Together, they offered deeply personal, thought-provoking, and visually arresting interpretations of crucial global issues. The themes explored include mental health, infectious diseases, climate change and health, and breakthrough scientific discoveries, all presented through an artistic lens that merges creativity with insight.

What sets these images apart is their ability to communicate complex narratives with emotional and intellectual resonance. Selected by an esteemed panel of international judges, the top 25 photos were chosen for their creativity, storytelling depth, and technical excellence. Submissions were spread across three compelling categories: Striking Solo Photography, A Storytelling Series, and The Marvels of Scientific and Medical Imaging. From portraits of resilience in the face of illness to microscopic views that reveal the hidden beauty of life’s building blocks, these photographs offer a new way to understand the world around us.

Each of the 25 selected entrants will receive £1,000, with three standout category winners set to earn £10,000. The winners will be revealed at a special awards ceremony on 16 July. The top 25 works will also be featured in a public exhibition at the Manby Gallery, located in the Francis Crick Institute, London, running from 17 July to 18 October 2025. This exhibition invites the public to reflect on the extraordinary intersections of art, science, and humanity—captured in frames that speak louder than words.
