Commercial photographer Tom Hussey creates an emotional reflection of their younger self in the mirror. The photographs show an elderly person looking pensively at the reflection of his/her younger self in the mirror.
In his words about this series “I don’t care how old you are, when you look into a mirror, you think of yourself as younger than you are. You have a memory of a pivotal time in your life – when you got your driver’s license, senior year in high school or maybe when you married. The “Reflections” advertising campaign was based on a portfolio shoot I made to illustrate this thought.”
Hussey was inspired by a World War II veteran who said “I can’t believe I am going to be 80. I feel like I just came back from the war. I look in the mirror and I see this old guy.”
These images were used by the healthcare company Novartis in a marketing campaign for its Exelon Patch, which is used for the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease.
