#1. 1st Place: "Golden Ridges" by Gregoire Pansu, France
"The only true sunset I witnessed during the nearly 9 days I spent in northern Spain. It had been raining most of the time. After a challenging hike on almost nonexistent, very steep, slippery and precipitous trails, we finally reached a ridge summit."
#2. 2nd Place: "Misty Mill" by David Palicka, Slovakia
"A foggy riverside scene of the Little Danube river showcasing a solitary cabin with red-framed windows as the focal point. Still water reflects the cabin and trees, creating symmetry and depth. Subtle leading lines and the presence of swans and ducks add balance and dynamism."
#3. 3rd Place: "The Three Peaks" by Enrico Curti, Norway
"Heavy snow fall, filtrating sun light, golden hour…conditions I have been dreaming of on this visit to Senja, only had them for a brief hour on the second day. Luckly I framed it, in the famous location of Tungeneset, but on the less popular side, the one I like the most."
Honorable Mentions
#4. "Matterhorn Reflections" by Dario Brand, Germany
"Just in time for the sunrise, I reached my destination after a three-hour nocturnal hike. The effort was rewarded by a mesmerizing display of colors in the sky and an experience of unforgettable intensity. The mirror-like lake underscored the stillness of this special moment."
#5. "Horned Giant" by Luca Pederneschi, Italy
"A rugged and detailed foreground leads the viewer’s eye through natural lines of water and rocks, guiding it toward the proud mountain rising in the background. The image, carefully processed to preserve the authenticity of the scene, tells the story of the Icelandic landscape’s raw power and purity."
#6. "Grotto Falls" by Sarah Barry, USA
"Grotto Falls, Oregon, USA. The sun broke through the tree canopy into the deep canyon. The sunbeams started to illuminate the rock and fern. I think it creates a warmth to an otherwise cold morning in the woods."
#7. "Deadvlie Namibie" by Philippe Aubert, France
"Dead Vlei is a white clay basin located at the foot of the Sossusvlei sand dunes in the Namib Desert, Namibia. Dead Vlei translates as "dead valley" or "dead marsh," and you’ll understand why as soon as you set foot inside. "Vlei" is a Namibian term meaning "clay plain" or "dry lake."
#8. "Twilight Over the Badlands" by Grégoire Pansu, France
"View of the main valley in the mountainous part of the Bardenas Reales badlands. Clay, which makes up the majority of sediments in this tortured landscape, forms red strata that are sometimes difficult to capture when the light is direct. I chose to highlight them by taking this image just after sunset, when the contrast decreases and the colors can truly express themselves for a few minutes. The foreground of this composition, formed by an outcrop of this red clay, closes the image and echoes the bands in the surrounding ravines."
#9. "Alpine Splendors" by Grégoire Pansu, France
"This scene captures, in my opinion, the quintessential beauty of the Alps in all its splendor: vibrant wildflowers dotting lush green meadows, dramatic light illuminating jagged peaks, and magnificent glaciers flowing down steep valleys."
#10. "Yearning for Spring" by Judith Kuhn, Germany.
"I’ve always wanted to experience Goðafoss in winter, but when I was there I actually felt like I was in the poem by August Heinrich Hoffmann von Fallersleben: it was bitterly cold, a strong wind was blowing from the north-east and it was snowing almost non-stop."
#11. "Midsummer Night" by Judith Kuhn, Germany
"Summer is a wonderful time to photograph Vestrahorn in East Iceland. The sun rises and sets directly behind the mountain at this time of the year, and it is windless more often than at other times of the year, so there is a very good chance of a reflection in the shallow water of the lagoon."
#12. "The Last Glow or Drangarnir" by Colas Decloitre, United Kingdom
"As the sun dips below the horizon, Drangarnir’s dramatic sea arch catches the final light of the day, standing strong against the fierce winds of the Faroe Islands."
#13. "Gone in a Wave" by Nikita Chicherin, Germany
"At Diamond Beach, where icebergs from the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon wash ashore, you only have moments before the ocean takes them back. The tide pulls them away, reshaping them with every wave. Each piece of ice is a fleeting sculpture, never to be seen again in the same form."
#14. "Roadside Magic" by Sarah Barry, USA
"This shot was taken along a forest road in Oregon. It is a seasonal flow. The moss on the wall made me forget I was on the side of the road. It feels like I was transported to an enchanted forest."
#15. "Full Moon Silhouette" by Valerie Neumann, USA
"Moon rise in the desert."
#16. "Sandstone Melody" by Thomas Halfmann
"Perfect combination of light, forms and colour. Cardiac Canyon, Page (AZ), USA."
#17. "Icelandic Blue" by Mark Hetherington, United Kingdom.
"This is the captivating Braurfoss waterfall in Iceland captured early in the morning with the incredibe aqua colour water which comes directly from a glacier."
#18. "Ice Waves" by Kira Godinez, USA
"Blue ice of the Vatnajökull glacier."
#19. "Green Carpet" by Dorota Qaid, Canada
"Dragon Blood trees are a symbol of Socotra Island."
#20. "Radiant" by Mark Hetherington, United Kingdom
"Sunrise at Wastwater in the Lake District was well worth the early alarm call."
#21. "Lake Bled Dawn" by Mark Hetherington, United Kingdom
"First light at Lake Bled in Slovenia with some lovely early morning pre sunrise tones and a nice reflection in the lake."
#22. "The Great Blue" by Enrico Curti, Norway
"One of my favorite from the last trip to Senja, just before the snow started to melt completely. Blue hour, snow, waves: a match made in Heaven."
#23. "Brathay Serenity" by Mark Hetherington, United Kingdom
"Early morning mist rolls across the river Brathay in Langdale, the Lake District creating an ethereal scene."
#24. "Passo Gardena" by Antonello Aló, Italy
"End of a sunset in one of the most iconic passes of the Dolomites."
#25. "Autumn in Santa Magdalena" by Antonello Aló, Italy
"Panoramic view of the Val di Funes in the heart of the Dolomites, with the iconic church of Santa Magdalena with the Odle in the background."
