The 2024 Close-Up Photographer of the Year competition has unveiled an impressive shortlist, showcasing 20 remarkable photos from a pool of 11,681 entries. These selected images span 11 diverse categories, including Animals, Insects, Butterflies and Dragonflies, Arachnids, Invertebrate Portraits, Underwater scenes, Intimate Landscapes, Plants, Fungi, Studio Art, and a dedicated category for young photographers under 18.
Each image captures extraordinary details, revealing the beauty and complexity of the world up close. The overall winner will be awarded $3,240 (£2,500) and a trophy, while category winners will receive $324 (£250). Additionally, the Young Close-Up Photographer of the Year will be honored with a Sigma 105mm f/2.8 DG DN Macro Art lens and a trophy.
