Sculptor Johnson Tsang creates surreal sculptures of the human face with porcelain. Johnson pushes realism’s boundaries in his sculptures of faces that are stretched and opened up in surreal ways. He incorporates hand gestures and metaphorical materials like growing leaves and rippling water to convey a sense of open-mindedness in his sculptures.
In his words “I feel excited when building an idea in my mind. I find peace of mind when I touch clay. I feel satisfied when a problem is solved. I feel grateful when the mission is completed. Then, I feel that I love it more than ever. So I feel excited to start the next project.”
