Art is a doorway through the inner and the outer world, a form of manifestation of the unconsciousness, and a bridge between the divine and human life. The spotlight where emotions are revealed, represented into forms without a definite definition.

Through lines, colors, and shapes, humans convey their limitless of the unseen realm to the creation of new realities. In this contemporary world, artists like Fabio Interra, an Italian photographer born in a little city in the north of Italy, composites and masters colors and lights to approach the old-style paintings through his photographs.

He has always been passionate about visual arts from an early age when he started drawing until he felt the need to create elaborate paintings, conceptual developed, and more mature. His skills extended after taking part in an art course to improve his painting techniques.

However, during a visit to La Conquet in Bretagne, Fabio was enchanted by the magical atmosphere and the soft lights of its surroundings, it inspired him to convey his artistic skills into photography. Soon after that trip, he enrolled in his studies at the “Italian Institute of Photography” in Milan. Since then, he never stopped shooting.

Here, a series of the most extraordinary images, selected from his portfolio, a true inspiration for all the unborn and new artists out there, a drive to take a step out from your creative minds, and manifest the vast imaginary inner world.

Powerful images that represent a bond between and humans in its primordial form, connected as a whole. Through cold places and dark shades, the artist becomes part of the natural surroundings. The images are a demonstration of a sensitive soul and the retrieval of feelings through movements and gestures.

“I started creating characters by photographing other people, which I aimed to show the beauty that people normally ignore. Later, I felt the desire to create photos of when I was experiencing a deep emotional pain, translating. my everyday feelings into a dramatic artistic reality, so since then, I started taking self-portrait.”

He defines his style, as dramatic, gloomy, and emotionally charged. He gets inspired by nature, especially when walking in the woods during the cold season. Also, music, cinema, and illustrations are a source of creativity, mainly through paintings, his imagination gets the boost toward the perfect expression.

I am not a bubbling person, neither an extrovert but, when I have to switch, I do because I need to support and sustain certain situations around me. I think this can be perceived through my pictures.”

“It’s a little hard for me to talk about myself so, the only way is through my photographs. Somebody said: “We all have our curses’ and I do agree.

I shoot with a Canon Eos 5D Mark IV, I like the softness on the images, and with the 24-70mm/2.8 and 85mm/1.8 lenses. I work with natural light because it gives a magic touch and a dramatic look rather than an artificial aspect by using the flash, which I use for commercial purposes.”

“I want to share with you the process of my work. I build my pictures before the actual shooting. Very often I have already the mood and the final look in my head. However, sometimes, the images are improvised on-site, based on my current mood and inspiration by the location.

I leave the pictures in the SD card for at least two days after the shooting because I need to reset my mind. Next, I import the pictures in Adobe Lightroom to correct the white balance, lights, shadows, small tones, also lens correction. Following that, I transfer the images on Photoshop for skin correction, remove items such as a little ladder, clamps, and other objects that I use for some creations.

Finally, I import again in Lightroom for the last touch on the tones, lately, I’m reading my own presets, which eventually will be soon available for sale.”
