AI-Looking Photos That Are Actually Real

Written by Daniel Keen

A photo contest, “Best of Velheimblau,” featured a unique installation with a Porsche 964 Turbo surrounded by hundreds of flowers. The car was displayed under a delicate floral composition, creating visuals that many people initially thought were AI-generated. The colours, lighting, and composition looked almost too perfect to be real, but this beautiful installation was 100% natural. The flowers were designed and arranged by the team at Colibri Studio.

The contest was organised by Porsche together with Grand Prix Motors and brought together some of the most creative automotive photographers in the area. Each participant was invited to capture their own vision of Porsche’s design and character. After all submissions were reviewed, three winners were selected based on creativity, composition, and storytelling through their images.

Roman Basiuk was one of the three judges of the contest, helping to choose the top entries from dozens of submissions. His own work was also featured during the event, and some of his images from the flower installation were later chosen by Porsche and posted on Porsche’s official social media, where they quickly gained attention because of the unique car installation and sparked discussions like “Is this even real?”

This contest highlighted not only Porsche’s timeless design but also how photography can bring new perspectives to the same subject. The mix of natural light, bold colours, and artistic composition created images that look almost unreal – and yet, everything in them is real.

Today, we’re sharing the three winning shots, along with Roman’s work. Take a look at the images and decide which one speaks to you the most.
