My name is Slavina Bahchevanova and I am from Bulgaria.
It has been 4 years ago when I got my first DSLR and when I discovered the magic of photography.
I don’t categorize myself as a particular type of photographer. I just love to take pictures of things I see and to create images from ideas that pass through my mind. I use every moment to do that. I take shots even if I don’t carry my camera. The photography gave me the opportunity to seek and express myself, to discover and recreate the world around me.
My photographs are just part of myself. That is why I am not recognizing the photography as my hobby. Nor I would do it my profession. My desire is to have the freedom in expressing myself and my feelings.
The most enjoyable to me are the experiments to find different ways for presenting my objects. Sometimes I manipulate the objects in post-processing (in most cases I use Photoshop), sometimes I draw using different lighting techniques and lighting set ups.
My last project – abstract smoke creations, is piece of a different and quite interesting to me part of the photography. While one is looking at the pictures, the spectator has the freedom to interpret the seen in his/ her unique way.
To observe the world through viewer’s point of view, to provoke his/ her imagination and to turn his/ her into a co-author was a pretty interesting discovery for me. The abstract smoke creations were born by techniques mixture – light painting, rear-curtain sync/slow-sync which will be the subject of my first solo exposition.
